• huatau . our big idea

Our vision is to create taonga to adorn and enrich our kāinga with expressions of te ao Māori to nourish the desire to connect, celebrate and express our own cultural identity.

  • ngā taonga . our products

We create art prints, enamel pins, greeting cards, stickers and woven patches. It is the notion of creating beautiful taonga that guides the dreams of Waihonga.

  • whakaingoā . choosing a name

In te reo Māori, Waihonga means nectar - the sweet, sugary juice of a plant which attracts insects or birds to pollinate the flower. It's also a loose translation of my name Ambrosia.

ko wai au . who am I?

Ko Ambrosia Crum ahau. He uri o Ngāpuhi me Ngāti Whātua. I am Ambrosia, the creative behind Waihonga. I have worked previously as an architectural designer and heritage advisor caring for Māori architectural taonga. My most rewarding venture to date though has been becoming māmā to my little boy Troy. My partner Blair and I recently purchased our first property near Ōkaihau to return home to our whānau to enjoy this precious time with our pēpi. Waihonga allows me to focus on my creative practice, connect to my Māoritanga in new ways and create a solid foundation for my whānau.
